2018 AFCON Qualifier: Falcons hit camp Thursday for Gambia

Players of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, are to return to camp on Thursday, May 10, 2018 for preparations ahead of the team’s 2018 Women Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) qualifying fixture against Gambia.

26 players have been called up for the tie by Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby. They are to camp at the Serob Legacy Hotel, Wuye, Abuja.

Camping has been divided into phases with the first phases holding between May 10 and May 15. The second phase commences on May 17 and end on May 22 while the third phase will last from May 24 to June 1.

Team officials have disclosed that only players selected for the game against Zambia would be invited for the fourth and final phase scheduled for June 2 – 14th.

The first game of the two-match fixture will take place on June 4 in Banjul with the return leg taking place in Nigeria on June 11.

Victory over two legs against the Gambians, who eliminated Burkina Faso in the preliminary stage, will send eight –time champions Nigeria to the 11th Women Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana later this year.
